SUMMER STYLE PICKS

Jul 25, 2016

I have been thinking for a while about what I should post here. I have been caught in a non-productive phase for a few months now. And not only blogging wise. Life wise. Didn't know what to write, didn't know what I was liking, what I was not liking. Nothing to blog about really. And after that much time without posting, I was thinking about what kind of post I should share with you. I was thinking for a while and I decided to come back here with a fashion post, because that is in the end the ones I like to read the most. I am a little curious rat and I love to know what other girls want, have or plan to buy soon and wishlists, style picks and hauls are by far my favourite post and videos, although I have been quite keen on some life advices post recently.

Summer is just passing by and I can't believe it is almost August already. To celebrate this time of the year (that so many of you like, but to be honest I am praying for fall to come ASAP) I put together a few of my favourite pieces. You will see some theme here. White, off the shoulder, touches of blue. "Grecian-I-wanna-go-to-Mykonos-and-Santorini" type of selection. Enjoy sweethearts and I will from now work on a serious relaunch of this blog and try to not let my emotion affect my posting schedule.

#GIRLBOSS - The business book for ambitious young women

Apr 26, 2016

After almost a year without reading (yes, I know, shame on me) I suddenly felt like reading dozens of books. But being in Japan, it is obviously quite hard to find interesting books either in french or english. The book stores are usually filled up with old classic that to be honest are not really my cup of tea. So when I came across #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso, I picked it up right away. It was the last one in the shop, and I had a bit of a panic moment when I realized I didn't have enough cash with me to pay for it. So I obviously hide it in between some children books far far away from its normal place on the business book shelf, ran to the closest ATM and came back to the bookstore. Hopefully it was still there, waiting for me. Wait, am I the only one hiding stuff and going back to pick them up later? I guess normal person might ask the staff to keep them on the side ...

Meh. Back to the book, I guess you have heard of it before, but it is basically the story of Sophia Amoroso, now ex-CEO of Nasty Gal. I picked this book because I am at a point in my life where I am asking myself a lot of questions about my future and I was hoping this book might help me find some answers, and well I won't say this book changed my entire life, but I was truly inspired and motivated by this women story. To be honest, while reading the book I was making sure to always have a notebook close to me to pick up her best advice on life and business.  And she gives quite a lot. She provides some precious advice on resume or job interviews for exemple that might be really good for anyone looking for a job.

The book is full of very inspiring quotes by Sophia such as "You don't have to chose between smart and sexy, you can have both, you are both".

I might have pick up another one, some of you might think this one is quite superficiual, but let me just tell you that I am an anti dress code kind of person. I like to wear what I want and I hate people judging other on what they wear so this one really spoke to me and I am especially sick of women being judge for being too sexy at work. We're in 2016 dude, if a women wants to wear 10cm heels at work, well let her do. I especially love the intro and the very first part of the book as well as the part with financial advices. Being a young adult, money is something that I sometimes struggle with. And, being a girl that love shopping and make up I am in a phase where I am learning the hard way where I should splurge and when I have to stop myself and this book really helped me to manage my money much better.

WHAT IT REMINDED ME : Keep on working hard, no matter how complicated it can be and how many shitty jobs I will have before finding the one (I guess the same goes for boyfriend in that case right?) you have to keep working, remembering what is your final goal. No job is really shitty, you can learn and be creative all the time, in any jobs you will have.

WHAT IT TAUGH ME : How to manage my money a little better. I now think twice before buying anything, and I have real categories for my savings and what I can or can't use them for.

WHAT I ADDED TO MY WARDROBE FOR SPRING (Work appropriate)

Apr 14, 2016

Is there is anything more exciting than season change? Especially when it comes to shopping? I don't think so. Most girls are I think very excited for the sales season but I am not that much into it. What I wait for, the new clothing items, the new collection that are gonna pop up all around as soon as the sales end. And here I am again, doing an Asos wishlist (I currently have more than 300 pieces in my saved basket) with all of their new stuff. But today, I won't be showing what I would like to buy, but what I actually got out of Asos. I made two orders recently and picked out 9 pieces that I absolutely adore and I think are really appropriate for girls in their mid twenties, who are starting their careers. Let me know what you think and what trend you like for spring and summer.

1. White trench coat - This is the main addition to my spring wardrobe. I was thinking about getting a white coat for a while since most of my coats and jacket are black but I couldn't find any that I liked. I wasn't sure about this Asos one, even when I got it, but after styling it with a pair of pumps, a pencil skirt and a lovely blouse, I felt in love. It is very classy and makes a very nice contrast with my almost black hair as everyone like to say.

2. Asymetrical navy skirt - I can't recommend you this skirt enough. I am in love with it. It fits really nicely and hug your curve in a lovely way. The asymetrical hem gives it a very original twist and I think make my legs look slightly longer. Depending on your work place dress code, you can totally wear it on business meetings and look absolutely fabulous.

3. Missguided nude bardot body - I wasn't sure about getting this body to be honest, because I never wore a body before and I was not sure about the confort. You know the toilet issue. But I just felt in love with the color and cut of it. And I could totally see it with a black pair of jean, a nice blazer, or as seen on the gorgeous model, with a high waisted white skirt. I haven't worn it yet but, let me tell you, I can't wait for my next night out to rock this baby!

4. Nude pencil skirt -  Next nude item, this basic pencil skirt. Not much to say. I tried it on with the body and it looks very nice. As you might know I love monochromatic looks, they make you look taller and a bit thinner and I am all about that vibe! Asos pencil skirt are always very nice quality and I am also impatient to wear it more and find different outifts around this very basic piece.

5. Light grey wrap blouse - There is not much to say about this blouse either. The cut is very classic and classy and the light grey color is really lovely. It is perfect for work and not too revealing but you can also wear it more casually with a pair of ripped jeans and some lovely pumps.

6. Snakeskin pumps -   Introducing to you my new favourite shoes. I am i love with them. They are very good quality, and they completely change a basic jean and white tee outfit into something much more stylish. They are also surprisingly comfortable and are now on crazy sale! Have a look !

7. Quay My Girl sunglasses - Oh. My. Gosh. I think I never had that many compliments on anything I own. Everytime I wear these sunnies someone ask me where they are from. I wanted these for so long. I mean, everyone on Youtube and Instagram seems to have Quay and I was just dying to get my hands on the My Girl ones. When I saw them on Asos, instant buy. Totally not regret it. Go and get them if you like oversized sunnies they are perfect.

8. Basic black pumps -  Don't have anything to say about them. They are classic, lovely material, quite comfortable and not expensive so I would recommend them if you are looking for a good pair of everyday black pumps!

9. Nude Selected shirt -  This is certainly one of my favourite piece out of the nine. This shirt is a little expensive but the quality is really nice, the fit is slightly oversized and you can easily be dress it up with a pencil skirt, or wear it very casually with a boyfriend jean and some white sneakers. It is such a good basic to have and I am questioning myself about getting the black version they have one Asos.

A FEW OF MY CURRENT FAVOURITES

Mar 20, 2016

Well let's be honest, none of these products are actually new releases, but they are all new to me. Except the Nars Creamy concelaer that I have been using for quite a while now. But anyway, I thought I would give my own opinion also and let you know what I think about all of them. Please feel free to comment, I would love to know if you've tried them before, and what are your current favourites.

NARS CREAMY CONCEALER IN CHANTILLY : I have been using the Nars Creamy concealer for a while now. It is a well known and well loved product and I do understand why. It has a good coverage and blend perfectly. This time however, I decided to pick the shade Chantilly, following the recommendation of the NARS counter girl. Well, next time, I'll do as usual, pick by myself. Even if it is good to highlight, I find the shade a little too white under my eyes and I prefer my usual Vanilla shade.

CLINIQUE PLUM POP LIPSTICK : I have now four lipstick from the Clinique Pop collection and I totally love them. They are moisturizing, the shades are bright and they are comfortable to wear. They are also "not too expensive" for a high end lipstick (23,50 euros). I still totally love the packaging and they really look super cute in my make uo collection. My last addition is Plum Pop, a gorgeous plum color. It is a nice Plum color (yes I know, you could have guess by yourself), a good alternative if you like dusty pinks but you want to wear something a bit darker.

YSL LIP OIL IN RED MY LIPS : This one is a product I would never have thought to get for myself. However, it is a very special present for me, since it is one of my student who actually give it to me (yes, I am a part time french teacher in Tokyo for a few months now). I got it in the shade Red My Lips. The texture of this product is quite surprising. It is an oil, but still not as oily as if you were putting real oil on your lips. It has a lovely glossy finish, and really hydrates your lips. However, don't expect any lasting power out of it, you will have to re-apply many times through out the day.

TOO FACED NATURAL MATTE PALETTE : Urban Decay, be carefull. Since I got this small and adorable palette from Too Faced, I have barely touched my Naked Palette, which used to be my absolute go to eye palette (and when you do a smockey eye on a daily basis, this mean something). I love all of the shades in this Matte Natural Palette, especially those on the third line whih are a little bit warmer. This palette is perfect for anyone looking for a compact palette full off matte brown shadows, to create looks from day to night.

L'OREAL ULTRA SHARP LINER : I have always been a fan of  l'Oreal pencil eye liners. I think that they are the best ones that you can find at the drugstore and this Ultra Sharp Liner makes no exception. It is super black, and as its name says, it is very sharp and pointy and makes it super easy to create perfect line and wing on your eyes. Definetly became my new favourite.

MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL : Last but not least, say hello to my new all time favourite mascara. Yes, I found something to replace my Maybelline the Falses. I understand why people were raving about it. I have tiny lashes, and I need both lenght and volume. This mascara gives both of them, but it also curl my lashes and they just stay in place all day long. Definetly a drugstore must have.

FASHION MOODBOARD #2 - STRIPED TOP

Mar 17, 2016

If there is one pattern that will never goes out of style, it is definetly stripes. As a french girl, striped top are a huge essential in my wardrobe. I could wear them all day and I have more than 10 in my collection. You can never ever add too many.

 HOW I WEAR THEM

My favourite way to wear stripes tops is to wear them very casually. I usually bought my basic stripes tops from Zara (material is on point for the price tag). I sometimes size up depending on the cut of the tee to have a more relax fit. I then pair them with boyfriend jeans (litterally living in boyfriend jeans during spring), pick up my favourite bag and leather jacket and depending on what I am doing, I will wear either some high heels or comfy sneakers.

WHAT TO BUY THIS SEASON

Spring is around the corner (finally!) and I would recommend to get some lightweight but nice fabric stiped tee as well as some thin knit jumper to wear for the chillier night. As I just wrote, Zara has some amazing pieces for the season and I might add one or two more striped piece to my colletion.

FASHION MOODBOARD #1 - NUDE, CAMELS AND NEUTRALS

Jan 9, 2016

A new serie where I will feature some inspiring fashion pictures of my current favourite trends. I am starting this week with neutrals tones and some subtle touch of camel which I would love to wear this winter. You can find below a few items that I would shop to add to my wardrobe. And I need the two scarves on the pictures, anyone knows where are they from? What are your favourite trend for this winter?

ALL ABOUT THAT BASE

Jan 7, 2016

And you have that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day now. Thank you Charlotte. Not such a subtle title but I think it is now clear what I will talk to you about today; my favourite products for face and base make up.

The first product I use (after moisturizer of course) is foundation. After trying a lot of different foundations from the drugstore, I finally comited to a more pricy one. The NARS Sheer Glow. It is the favourite of so many beauty gurus and I know why. I have a skin that tend to be quite oily, however, this foundation is really amazing. It will gives you a glowy yet natural skin effect. You can chose from so many shades, I personally own the shade Deauville. It is super easy to blend, and it doesn't feel caky at all. It has a medium coverage but you can definetly build it up.

For concealer, my favourite is going to the Naked Skin concealer by Urban Decay. This concealer is on point. The applicator is quite big and it makes the application super easy. It is also very lightweight and very easy to blend. I also find it very luminous which is perfect in our new "highlight on fleek" world. I have to say that I also adore the Nars Creamy Radiant concealer, but it is a little more expensive. For that reason, I would repurchase the Urban Decay one.

Finally, my favourite setting powder is ... a drugstore product! Yes it happens sometimes. I discovered the Revlon Color Stay powder a few months ago after hearing a french youtuber with oily skin raving about it. I used the Rimmel Stay Matte powder for the longest time before I discovered this one, which is another blogger classic but this one is much better. It keeps my skin matte for, I will say a good 8 hours and won't leave me as shiny as the former one I was using.

Here are my top three favourite, please let me know yours in the comment, I am willing to try a new high end foundation, adapted to oily skin! I am waiting for your recommendation!

TOO FACED COCOA CONTOUR PALETTE - CHISELED TO PERFECTION

Jan 3, 2016

Hello loves! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas with your family or loved one and a happy new year. Well I know that new years posts are all around and I am here doing a make up review. Honestly I am not super inspired to do anything related to 2015 and 2016 yet. I would have a lot to say though but I am in a period where I don't really want to talk about anything personal here. Who knows maybe I will come up with something in the coming weeks if I feel like writting.

Anyway here is my review on the Cocoa Contour palette from Too Faced. Last winter I remember buying one of the Too Faced chocolate bronzer and being a total fan of it. I then tried NARS Laguna and put the Too Faced one on the side but as I was hitting pan on it, I thought I would ask for a contouring palette for Christmas. Since I knew for sure the bronzers were good, I decided to get this one.

Packaging wise, once again Too Faced is simple on point. The palette is absolutely cute and comes with two bronzers, a matte light face powder and a highlighter. You also get a cute little brush that I find really convinient to contour. The palette also comes with a big mirror wich is once again really usefull. Concerning the products itself, I have a mix review. First I love the smell, it has the typical cacao sent of the Too Faced Chocolate range but it is not too overpowering. The first shade, Light Cocoa is a good setting powder, you can use it under your eyes to set your concealer, or if you have a faire skin tone, all around your face to set your foundation. I also love the shade Medium Cocoa that is a good shade for doing contouring, it is a non orangy bronzer that would suit faire to medium skin tone.

I am much more skeptical about the last two shades. Dark Cocoa is too dark for my skin tone, but I think I can still use it as an eye shadow for exemple since I really like to wear warm brown smoky eyes. But the real problem of the palette for me is the highlight shade Pop of Light. As in a lot of other cheeks or contour palette, it is a very shimmery shade, full of glitters that in my opinion don't really reflect the light very nicely. It is more like applying glitter on your cheekbones than a nice and settle highlight. However, I overall really like the palette! As usual you can't really be disapointed with Too Faced, and I can't wait to try more and more products from the brand!
